POPULAR PETITION.
CIVITAS MARIÆ:
(CITY of MARY)
honorific institutional and religious recognition, commemorating a local, historical, moral and cultural peculiarity,
which gives course to the pious and traditional Christian Marian devotion, often confirmed by a mariophany
(eg: Guadalupe, Fatima, Lourdes ect ..).
The highest honor is granted (with a request for a resolution to the city council and without budget expenses)
by the Mayor and the Bishop which in agreement insert it in the annual patronal feast,
in which in addition to the renewal of the sacraments
(and the pious devotions of the millennial Marianism), civil institutions with associations
they can create historical-cultural events reminiscent of popular folk traditions.
The population can mean participation in the private or popular petition for conferment, with a report of Churches, newsstands,
Marian deeds and facts, to be combined with a collection of signed prayers in turn to be attached
and affectionately deposited in the bishopric and in the municipality,
to certify to those present and remind posterity (of all religious or feudal latitudes)
the centuries-old local popular affection for the Holy Mother of God who is invoked
and indicated to the unborn and to strangers, as protector of the city community.
This Marian honorary recognition (much more than a simple religious consecration),
is juridically inscribed in the memory of the facts concerning the city and as a result benefits
from the intrinsic local guarantees and historical-legal protection.
May Jesus and Mary welcome and help to keep this faith over time.
